England 2020

277 galleries

The United Kingdom is a state made up of the historic countries of England, Wales and Scotland, as well as Northern Ireland. It is known as the home of both modern parliamentary democracy and the Industrial Revolution.

Two world wars and the end of empire diminished its role in the 20th century, and the 2016 referendum vote to leave the European Union has raised significant questions about the country's global role.

Nonetheless, the United Kingdom remains an economic and military power with great political and cultural influence around the world.
This is Britain 2020, through my eye as a documentary and news photographer who is interested in people's politics, sports, religion, culture, money and their warfare business worldwide.
Most of my work has been featured in American, European and Middle Eastern print, web and broadcast media.

HSBC says it has always met its legal duties on reporting such activity. The files show the investment scam started soon after the bank was fined $1.9bn (£1.4bn) in the US over money laundering. Protesters in Britain clashed with police after thousands of people flooded into central London on Wednesday. Although Black Lives Matter U. K., called off the protest on Wednesday 1800 hours, many protestors and activists remained chanting ‘black lives matter’ and ‘we will not be silent’ in Whitehall. The protest was peaceful in Hyde Park and in front of the US Embassy, but after the organisers left the scene tensions escalated later outside Downing Street. The Metropolitan Police said 13 people were arrested during the protests, which ran into the early hours of Thursday morning. In response to George Floyd death, protests have taken place across America and internationally after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee against Floyd's neck while the handcuffed black man called out that he couldn't breathe. The officer, Derek Chauvin, has been fired and charged with murder.

More people have died in the United Kingdom from coronavirus than any other European country, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Britain began its seventh week of coronavirus lockdown today, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson urging the country for continued patience with the measures as the UK comes through its 'peak' of COVID-19 cases and deaths. Last week Prime Minister Johnson said that the government would provide information on this in the days ahead. Johnson himself has reportedly become more cautious over releasing the country from a lockdown following his own experience with the virus, which put him in intensive care at St Thomas' Hospital in London for several days earlier this month.

And so is the perception, therefore many things can change quickly depending on the perspective we perceive about a given situation. As much as two Danish photographers wanted to tell us about this, I was lingering about the same idea. The question one might ask is how can you be sure from pictures and news we are told that people are really doing the right thing? It turns out that it's almost impossible to do so. Even more, how can we be sure that the government is not lying us when we know that most of the opinionated information is sold out as news? Take a look of this set and make up your mind.
